Position Title: Lead Pharmacy Technician

External Description:

Alignment Healthcare is seeking a lead pharmacy technician to perform assigned department functions under the direct supervision of the pharmacy technician manager. The lead pharmacy technician will be responsible for supporting oversight of pharmacy technicians and day to day operations of the pharmacy department and pharmacy programs.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
(May include but are not limited to)

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians
  • Train new pharmacy technicians
  • Assist with the daily operations of the pharmacy Department, including call campaigns, programs, and ad-hoc projects
  • Assist with quality control monitoring and oversight of pharmacy calls, programs, and projects
  • Create daily reporting metrics
  • Enter authorizations and overrides into the prescription claims system
  • Make outbound calls to pharmacies, prescribers, and members regarding prescriptions
  • Coordinate intra- and inter-departmentally to address prescription benefit related issues and promote optimal outcomes
  • Support yearly readiness activities, including but not limited to: rebates, transition claim monitoring, and member materials
  • Ensure all member information is kept confidential according to HIPAA.
  • Lead team building activities (e.g., birthday celebrations, department celebrations, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Experience:

  • Pharmacy Technician license and / or certification
  • Excellent verbal and phone communication (customer service) skills
  • Able to multi-task with minimal direction and to reason, think logically and  carry out instructions
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records collect and maintain data for statistical reporting
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Previous experience in Medicare managed care plans and / or PBM (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role (preferred )
  • Bilingual - Able to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish (strongly preferred)
