We are seeking to add a Product Owner to our fast growing team to oversee the design, development, implementation and launch of various products in our digital member experience portfolio.

Agile Product Owner Duties:

  • Serve as a voice to project the expectations of customers on new or already existing products.
  • Highlight product features in a manner clearly understandable to the engineering team.
  • Manage and develop product backlog, as well as user stories backlog for implementation.
  • Conduct backlog grooming meetings.
  • Attend sprint planning and demo meetings to give feedback on sprint achievement, as well as to scrum team.
  • Accept work based on agreed upon criteria for each sprint or release.
  • Monitor the progress of product development as well as plan for product release.
  • Contact customers and end users to obtain information on expected product features
  • Provide reports to update management and stakeholders on product development operations.
  • Analyze customer opinions and feedback to determine features or components that will add good value to a product.
  • Participate in industry conferences and study relevant material to update job knowledge/skill.
  • Constantly exchange ideas with product owners within an organization.
  • Assess product value stream to identify areas that require improvements.
  • Measure product performance as well as value delivered to clients in order to make adjustments where necessary.
  • Develop and implement action plans for building and sustaining demand for a product.
  • Ensure implemented product features add value to end users and increase company returns.

Key Qualifications  – Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

Good candidates will be strong in the following areas:

  • Education and Training: To become an agile product owner, you require a Bachelor’s degree in Software engineering, business management or related disciplines.
  • Leadership: Product owners are able to direct, motivate, and influence the product development team of an organization
  • Analysis: They are able to conduct surveys to determine most appropriate feature to add to a new or existing product
  • Interpersonal Relationships: They are adept to working with user groups and scrum team to obtain and analyze user stories.

Additionally, candidates are expected to have qualifications that demonstrate a proficiency in the role.  

For example:

  • Has had past success in an agile/SCRUM setting.
  • Can demonstrate past product wins and growth.
  • Can demonstrate an ability to negotiate, set direction and prioritize work.
  • Can demonstrate accountability and ownership of their product.
  • Has strong backlog management skills and attention to detail.
  • Has the ability to translate between business and technology.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to manage sprint and release themes and targets, and help ensure the team can manage to their commitments.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work with their team to break down large efforts into sizeable increments.
  • Can demonstrate the ability showcase and demo their product and speak to its value in the market.
  • Can communicate with other product owners and exchange ideas and standards.
  • Can create and manage feedback channels to factor into future development efforts.
  • Has clear leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has healthcare domain and consumer (B2C) experience.
  • Training and certification as a professional product owner is preferred, but not required.
