Position Summary:

Alignment Healthcare is seeking an enthusiastic representative who will be responsible for retaining existing members within company health plan(s). The ideal candidate must be friendly, professional, and genuinely interested in the needs of our members to proactively address various customer related needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities of the Retention Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding monthly goals for retention of enrolled members
  • Handle inbound telephone inquiries on a variety of customer service-related topics
  • Conduct outbound calls including Disenrollment Surveys, Satisfaction Surveys, and courtesy and notification calls in support of various campaigns and customer service-related topics
  • Represent the health plan and provide support at member events
  • Excel in customer service and contribute to a culture of going “above and beyond” to ensure the highest level of member satisfaction
  • Must be a “team player” which includes sharing best practices and participating in team meetings or trainings as required
  • Submit daily/monthly activity reports and complete call documentation as required
  • Ensure that information and assistance provided is within the standards established by all applicable federal/state laws and regulations and health plan compliance
  • Complete trainings and exhibit understanding of new updates related to the company, health plan benefit packages, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • Support other projects and duties as assigned by Management

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Strong knowledge and understanding of the Medicare Managed Care Manual Chapter 2 - Medicare Advantage Enrollment and Disenrollment and Medicare Communications and Marketing Guidelines
  2. Medicare health plan knowledge/experience in: Sales or Customer Service or Membership/Eligibility

  1. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  None required, Sales License preferred
  3. Other Qualifications – preferred, but not required:
  • Bilingual: Spanish or Vietnamese, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), Korean
  • Flexibility with schedule depending on needs
  • Self-starter who is a team player and extremely organized
  • Ability to learn plans and describe / explain / educate
  • Excellent communicator and presentation skills

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  2. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  3. Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but un-involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  4. Computer Skills: Strong computer skills.
  5. Other Skills and Abilities:

              *   Computer literate, typing 40+ words per minute.

              *   Excellent communication skills, oral, and written.
