External Description:

Alignment Healthcare is seeking a passionate, service-oriented, and professional medical assistant (temporary) for an administrative project to scan a large volume of medical records into Allscripts EHR system. As a medical assistant, you will also have the opportunity to work closely with assisting clinicians to administer medical services and in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
(May include but are not limited to:)

Administrative Support (corporate office): 80%

  • Scan, abstract, and upload medical records into Allscripts EHR.

Back Office Support (Float - medical office): 10%

  • Room and interview patients, measure vital signs, record reason for visit.
  • Explain procedures, perform treatments, and administer prescribed medication.

Front Office Support (Float - medical office): 10%

  • Greet patients in a friendly, service oriented manner in compliance with Alignment Healthcare (AHC) policies and workflows.
  • Oversee patient check-in by ensuring medical records and charts have been pulled, patient data is current, appropriate paperwork is in order, and charts are reviewed and prepared.
  • Oversee patient check-out by scheduling follow-up appointments, collecting co-payment (if applicable), and ensuring paperwork is complete.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Reconcile co-payments at the end of each day.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a working medical assistant
  • High school diploma; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited school of training
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) system
  • Possess computer skill proficiency for scanning, uploading, and abstracting information into electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Prior experience in understanding and adhering to HIPAA regulations
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be punctual and profesional
  • Willing to float one day a week (at minimum) to one of the medical offices in Anaheim, Whittier, Hacienda Heights, Montebello, as needed.

Pluses:

  • Experience working specifically with Allscripts EHR
  • Experience working with Medicare population
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish)
