Position Title: Sr Product Specialist

External Description:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Product & Administration, the primary responsibility of this position is to work alongside the Heads of Product & Marketing with navigating product management, management of administrative traffic flow within the Medicare HMO Line of Business and special needs populations, assist with health plan expansion and plan benefit bid process, market research, and competitive analysis. This position is also responsible for coordination of the Medicare product process ensuring the process is in compliance with State and Federal regulations.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

(May include but are not limited to)

  • Some experienced with CMS Medicare Guidelines for sales, marketing and product including, regulatory interpretation.
  • Understand the competitive environment of Medicare Advantage plans within your geographic region of responsibility
  • Compliance oversight of CMS Medicare Marketing Guidelines.
  • Product research of key competitors for filings, bids and selling periods as required
  • Coordination of yearly Health Plan bids and Service Area Expansions with required regulatory agencies including: CMS, DMHC, NCQA as needed.
  • Knowledgeable of all elements of product portfolio associated eligibility guidelines for various election periods with Medicare
  • Maintain good working knowledge of competitor products in the markets and  highlight opportunities for the company
  • Ensure the accuracy of a variety member facing media for specific Medicare Advantage plans
  • Help develop the product lifecycle work plan. Monitor activities and progress, and analyzes results to measure effectiveness.
  • Maintain subject matter knowledge related to Medicare Advantage service area expansions, notice of intent to apply, bid and implementation planning.
  • Provide consultation to all internal areas with regard to product designs and capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management, staff members, brokers and external audiences.
  • Maintain knowledge of state and national government programs, health insurance markets, the reform environment and product trends.
  • Work closely with the following departments: Compliance, Pharmacy, Healthcare Services, Quality, Marketing, Enrollment, Sales.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Some experience working with department staff; ability to work well with staff and with minimal direction.
  • Prior experience in the Medicare healthcare field a plus.
  • Knowledge of project development, managing traffic flow, and calendar development.
  • Ability to navigate multiple assignments and understand the ever-changing Medicare environment.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite, as well as the use of internet, web-based applications.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
